VISIT: {Yonkers} This is not the first time that I VISIT: {Yonkers} This is not the first time that I’ve posted about @untermyergardens. This hidden gem in Yonkers requires multiple visits throughout the year to be able to appreciate all of its beauty, as it changes throughout the seasons.

Spring visits include the usual spectacular views of the Hudson River but also all the daffodils! The Temple of Love is my fave!

They sell @duchesscookiesnyc in a variety of flavors like Churro, Red Velvet, Oreo Cheesecake, Funfetti and Peanut Butter Chip. We tried the S’mores (self-explanatory)and the Unicorn (a pink glitter sugar cookie stuffed with a strawberry cheesecake filling). We arrived at 12 when they first opened and the cookies were warm out of the oven. They are so good!

We didn’t sample the cereal but they have a whole menu of flavors that you can customize into an ice cream cup, cone or milkshake with a topping and drizzle or you cane enjoy just a bowl of cereal!

@milkncookies offer vegan ice cream and non-dairy milk for an additional cost.

EAT: {Woodstock} After a 7+ mile hike to Overlook EAT: {Woodstock} After a 7+ mile hike to Overlook Mountain, we were starving. There are many restaurants that we still need to explore, but we were looking for some fast, tasty eats.

@catskillmountainpizza is a local, family run business. Open since 1998, the restaurant serves pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches and more. They have vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.

We each chose a different gourmet slice. I was impressed with the variety of non-meat slices that they offered. My son enjoyed a pepperoni and sausage slice. We also shared a large mozzarella salad.
Everything was really good and I recommend Catskill Mountain Pizza Company for a quick and satisfying meal!

Please note, they are cash only, but there is an ATM onsite.

Open:
Monday - Thursday, 11 AM - 9 PM
Friday & Saturday, 11 AM - 10 PM
Closed Sundays

EAT: {Yonkers} Macarons are my daughter’s favori EAT: {Yonkers} Macarons are my daughter’s favorite cookie! When we were at Ridge Hill in Yonkers she made us stop in to Le Macaron to try some macarons.

We each picked one flavor and sampled a tiny bite of each. They have a large selection of different flavors but we ended up trying the mango, raspberry, lemon creme and lavender white chocolate. The mango and raspberry macarons had a jelly spread inside.

The shop also serves hot and cold drinks, French pastries and gelato. Definitely worth a stop when you’re visiting Ridge Hill.

EAT: {Yorktown Heights} Our family loves bagels! A EAT: {Yorktown Heights} Our family loves bagels! A couple of weekends ago when we were in Yorktown Heights the kids were hungry so we stopped at @thebagelemporium to grab them a snack.

My son enjoyed a bacon, egg, cheese, hash brown sandwich and my daughter shared her egg bagel with olive cream cheese with my husband. Surprisingly, I wasn’t hungry and didn’t have anything this trip (but there will be future visits!).

However, I was impressed by the variety of bagels and cream cheeses that they make and sell. Besides the usual bagels you’d expect, they also have french toast bagels, super onion bagels and a Fruity Pebbles bagel! And they have so many varieties of cream cheese including savory, sweet and @tofuttibrands (dairy-free).

When you get there close to closing time on a Sunday, the bagel selection was pretty limited. But they also sell baked goods (muffins, cookies and more) and make lots of different sandwiches, wraps, paninis and salads. They have something for everyone!

The Bagel Emporium has several other locations in Westchester County including Armonk, Chappaqua, Port Chester and Tarrytown. They have won many @westchestermagazine “Best of Westchester” awards. You should check them out to see why!

EAT: {Ossining} My husband and I celebrated our 17 EAT: {Ossining} My husband and I celebrated our 17th anniversary early last night with dinner at @brothersfishnchips in Ossining (because our actual anniversary is on Easter).

We have not had fish in almost a year and a half, since we’ve been vegetarian. However, we have missed this restaurant so much and wanted to celebrate our anniversary by enjoying the tasting menu here.

Last night we enjoyed a 12 course dinner (that included a wine ice cream palate cleanser). Some of my favorite dishes included lobster croquettes, a shrimp tostada, and octopus.

Elmer Oliveros, @the_seafood_cook is an amazing chef. We enjoyed such a wide variety of seafood, including oysters, scallops, lobster, crab and shrimp. The dishes not only tasted delicious but were plated beautifully. You can tell that Elmer loves what he does!

My husband also enjoyed some new cocktails created by mixologist Juan Giovani (@juangccxf) like the Purple Haze and the Qomer (which means “green” in Quechua in Ecuador and Peru).

I highly recommend the tasting menu at Brothers Fish and Chips. We’ve enjoyed it on several special occasions and it does not disappoint! Be sure to make reservations as there is limited space in the restaurant.

The restaurant serves a regular dinner menu as well. However, if you really want to see Chef Elmer’s talents, you MUST try the tasting menu!

We enjoyed this Oreo chocolate chip cookie, a blueberry scone and a piece of carrot cake. Everything was really good!

We visited on a weekend afternoon and our choices were somewhat limited. However, I discovered that you can order online for delivery or if you live close, like we do, you can preorder and pickup. Definitely going to try this next time!

On my Sunday afternoon visit several families came in to enjoy drinks and treats but there were also a couple of people working/studying.

Mimi’s sells a variety of treats (we’ve had the chocolate chip cookie on a previous visit and it was delicious!), wraps and snacks. They have vegan and vegetarian options.

ON THE BLOG: The weather has been beautiful! I’ ON THE BLOG: The weather has been beautiful! I’ve been inspired to do some spring cleaning but now have piles of “stuff” all over. Can you relate?!

Today on the blog (link in profile) I share where to give, donate or sell those unwanted items in Westchester County. You can give away your things to local community members, donate items to organizations that will then sell them to earn some money or you can sell your items or consign them.

Whatever you choose, please try not to throw away items that are in good condition! We don’t need them sitting in landfills for years when someone else may be able to use your unwanted items.
{Yorktown Heights} SOUND ON! Today our family went {Yorktown Heights} SOUND ON! Today our family went on a hike at Turkey Mountain in Yorktown Heights. I’ve posted about this place before, as it’s a great place for a family hike.

The last time we hiked here was March 15th of last year. The day right before we shut down and worked from home/did online school. A year later and things are looking brighter. It was such a beautiful day and I’m glad we got the family outside to enjoy it.

As we were finishing our hike we heard this loud sound (sound on to hear). We first thought it might be birds but my daughter guessed (correctly) frogs. We found a little pond and there were tons of frogs swimming about! Unfortunately, you can’t see a lot of them in the short video, but there a bunch of them!

One thing we didn’t lose over the pandemic was Mother Nature. Today showed us how amazing she is and how beautiful and amazing nature is. With the arrival of spring we are looking forward to many more outdoor adventures!

We hope you got enjoy some time outdoors today!
SHOP: {Peekskill} I believe I was first introduce SHOP: {Peekskill} I believe I was first introduced to @josbodyshop from a @peekskillcoffee story. I knew I had to visit with my teen daughter who has recently become interested in crystals and stones. (Yes, this is a very belated post and we visited back in February when there was still snow!)

Although the shop is small, it is packed with all of your spiritual needs. There is a large collection of stones and crystals, jewelry, books and so much more. My daughter chose this alligator ring and I picked up a chakra healing set. We didn’t go crazy knowing there were going to be more trips in our future.

JO of Jo’s Body Shop also offers a variety of healing services including massage, lymphatic flushing, hydrotherapy and more.

JO was very friendly and informative during our visit. Check out her Instagram page as she’s always showcasing new items in the shop!

EAT: {Mohegan Lake} I have always loved falafel, EAT: {Mohegan Lake} I have always loved falafel, but since becoming vegetarian, it has become one of my favorite foods! I’ve tried cooking it at home, but it is always better from a restaurant!

Open since 2010, Almadinah Market in Mohegan Lake sells a variety of middle eastern goods and also has a large takeout menu. I got the falafel platter which includes six falafel over rice with lettuce, tomato, pickled turnips, tahini sauce and a pita.

They make chicken over rice, gyros, kofta kabob and more. This is worth a visit for some tasty eats!
