EAT/SHOP: {Brewster}. Even though it’s not fall, EAT/SHOP: {Brewster}. Even though it’s not fall, you can still get your fill of cider donuts @salingersorchard in Brewster!

Salinger’s has been family owned and operated since 1901! The orchard grows 18 different varieties of apples.

Besides apples and cider donuts, the bakery sell all kinds of baked goods like pies, scones, muffins and fudge. The market sells produce, syrup, honey, jams and so much more!

Besides cider doughnuts (which were so good!), we also bought an apple strudel, which was flaky and delicious!

And on the weekends @thebusatsalingers is in the parking lot serving an amazing menu!

EAT: {Irvington} This past weekend we finally got EAT: {Irvington} This past weekend we finally got to visit @sambal_restaurant in Irvington for lunch takeout. This is a Thai & Malaysian restaurant right near the Irvington train station, with views of the Hudson River.

I HAD to get the Cauliflower Manchurian, which didn’t disappoint! We also shared the curry puffs, which had a similar flavor to a samosa, but had a sweet chili dipping sauce.

We also shared Tofu Massaman (coconut cream, onions, carrots, potaoes, peanuts and cherry tomatoes). This dish was packed with tofu and was also delicious!

We were impressed with the number of vegan dishes that Sambal has. Everything was so tasty and there’s so many other dishes we want to try!

We highly recommend Sambal in Irvington for tasty Thai/Malaysian food!

TO DO: {Esopus} Back at the end of November we vis TO DO: {Esopus} Back at the end of November we visited a new-to-us @scenichudson park, Black Creek Preserve in Esopus.

This is an easy 2.1 mile family-friendly hike. The highlight of the hike for us was the suspension bridge at the beginning. It’s such a fun and unique feature.

It was a cloudy and dreary day when we visited. I want to come back in the spring when the weather is warmer and then in the fall when the foliage will be at its peak.

However, there are some pretty spectacular Hudson River views regardless of when you visit. There are several benches along the hiking path for sitting and taking in the views.

TO EAT: {Shrub Oak} Did you celebrate #nationalbag TO EAT: {Shrub Oak} Did you celebrate #nationalbagelday today? Our go-to bagel place is @jvbagels in Shrub Oak. My favorite is the jalapeño cheddar bagel. But we usually get everything, chocolate chip and French toast too!

There are three locations where you can get these tasty bagels: Shrub Oak, Brewster and Somers. You can also get muffins, pastries, breakfast sandwiches and more.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays they have a buy 6 get 3 free special.

What’s your favorite bagel?

TO EAT: {White Plains} Downtown White Plains resta TO EAT: {White Plains} Downtown White Plains restaurant month is taking place for the entire month of January. Many restaurants are offering 3 course prix-fixe menus for lunch ($20.95), dinner ($30.95) or 2nd tier dinner ($40.95).

This past weekend my husband and I ordered takeout from @littledrunkenchef. Not only do they have one of the most vegetarian friendly menus, but we had never eaten from here or from any of Chef Bonnie Saran’s restaurants yet.

We started with the samosas and lasooni gobi (cauliflower florets in a chili garlic sauce). For our mains we enjoyed the tofu bowl and Channa Saag. They were sold out of the chocolate lava cake, so we had churros with chocolate and dulce de leche sauce and tres leches cake for dessert.

And now that we’ve had a taste of Little Drunken Chef White Plains we can’t wait to visit Chef Saran’s other restaurants!

Everything was delicious! We highly recommend Little Drunken Chef for White Plains restaurant month or anytime!

TO EAT: {Wappingers Falls} We love Vietnamese food TO EAT: {Wappingers Falls} We love Vietnamese food, but sadly, there aren’t a whole lot of restaurants in the area. A couple of years ago @carinerfeist introduced me to Saigon Pho in Wappingers Falls.

Before changing to a plant-based diet we loved their pho, banh mi sandwiches and Bun Cha Gio + Thit Nuong (vermicelli with egg rolls and grilled pork).

We recently visited for some takeout (they are currently offering take-out only). We got the vegetarian pho and the vegetarian vermicelli. Both were delicious! The pho was enough to serve 3! They pack all of the toppings so that you can put it together at home. The vermicelli had fried tofu and tons of veggies.

If you are in the area, I recommend stopping by Saigon Pho for some tasty Vietnamese eats!

TO READ: The Tourist Attraction by @sarahmorgentha TO READ: The Tourist Attraction by @sarahmorgenthaler.author. This was such a cute, contemporary romance read! And can’t we all use some light, fun reads right now?! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Mistletoe & Mr. Right.

I just started a new highlight section of my books for 2021. As much as I love to showcase Westchester County and the Hudson Valley......I also love to read! I know a bunch of followers are also readers. While I don’t post a lot about books on my feed, I did want to highlight my new story highlight section for anyone looking for something new to read!

{Subscription Box} For Christmas we gifted our son {Subscription Box} For Christmas we gifted our son a 3 month subscription to Kiwi Crate (@kiwico_inc).

The company has several different lines of subscription crates based on age and interest.

Although our son is 12, we opted to get him the Eureka Crate for ages 14+ that focuses on science and engineering.

We were pleasantly surprised that his first crate was a build your own ukulele , since he is very interested in music and instruments.

With the clearly written instructions, he was able to build the ukulele on his own in a matter of hours. And he can play it!

He is looking forward to what next month’s project will be! If you are looking for a STEM gift for kids of all ages, I recommend checking out Kiwi Crate!
This past weekend we went snow tubing at @windhamm This past weekend we went snow tubing at @windhammountain Adventure Park. You can read all about our experience on the blog today (link in profile).

Pros: no reservations, 3 hour snow tube time.

Cons: no reservations = long lines, 2 hour drive (but definitely a doable day trip)

Snow tubing is a great winter family activity. We were happy to try a new-to-us place and had a fun time.
