Friday Favorites – Blogger Blahs Edition

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday everyone!  It’s been pretty quiet around the blog here as I’ve recently been experiencing the blogger blahs.  I have tons of blog post ideas but just have been unmotivated to sit and write them.  I am hoping to be more present around here in the upcoming week!  We are approaching the last two months of school and things are getting super busy around here.   Lots of fun things are going on, but it’s also a bit stressful trying to stay on top of everything.  This weekend my son makes his First Communion and Sunday, my husband and daughter will be participating in their first 5K.  There have been lots of favorites around here though.

1. Somewhere In America – This poem performed by teenage girls, Belissa Escobedo, Rhiannon McGavin and Zariya Allen is so powerful and yet sad, that this is the reality for so many of today’s youth.

Herkimer Diamonds

2. Cub Scout Camping – My husband and son spent last Saturday camping at Herkimer Diamond Mines in upstate New York with the Cub Scouts.  They spent hours mining and came home with several Herkimer diamonds.  While the rest of the scouts and their families stayed in cabins, my husband and son and my son’s friend and father braved the night camping in a tent.  While it was a bit chilly at night, they had a great time.

Yogen Fruz

3.  Mother/Daughter Day – While the boys were on their camping trip, my daughter and I had a special Mother/Daughter Day.  We went to the Palisades Mall and did some shopping.  We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and then had some Yogen Fruz.  Before we left, we spent some time at Dave & Busters and did a little gaming.  When we got home we watched Troop Beverly Hills before bed.  It was nice to be able to spend some quality alone time with her!

Westchester River Walk

4. Family Time and Beautiful Weather – Sunday was a beautiful day!  After the guys got home, unpacked and showered from their camping trip, we went down to the riverfront and walked the new Westchester River Walk.  We are lucky to live right near the beautiful Hudson River.  The weather was gorgeous and we got to take a nice walk together and then sat along the river eating an ice cream treat after!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

5. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – My son and I have started reading the Harry Potter series together.  I have only read up to the fifth book, so this will be a good way for me to eventually finish the series!  We are reading it together and listening to it on CD in the car, to help speed the process up.   We recently finished the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and watched the movie this past weekend.  I’ve told the kids that once we finish the series we can then make a trip to Universal Studios and visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!

Hope you have a great weekend!  Linking up with Tif, Andrea and Amanda!

Philadelphia Hotel Review: Holiday Inn Express – Penn’s Landing

Holiday Inn Express Penn Landing

We decided about a week before Spring Break to visit Philadelphia.  At that point, we were scrambling to find a hotel room for our trip.  The last time either my husband or I visited Philly was in our childhood, so we were unfamiliar with the size of the city or the locations of the various points of interest.  When perusing expedia.com and tripadvisor, the Holiday Inn Express (HIE) Penn’s Landing popped up with some of the most reasonable rates.  The hotel is conveniently located in the historic Old City on Christopher Columbus Boulevard, right off the highway.   We booked our room a week in advance directly via the hotel website and took advantage of their “Book Early and Save Price.”  This price was even cheaper than the AAA rate.  However, this rate is available only for those stays booked at least 7 days in advance and is non-refundable.  We were going to make it there no matter what!  After researching hotels we realized that almost all hotels charge for parking.  At the HIE Penn’s Landing, it costs $30 per night to park your car or $20 per day.  What ultimately sold us on this hotel was the free Express Start Breakfast and the free shuttle.

We left our house in Northern Westchester County, New York around 6:30 AM and with a couple of rest stops make it to Philadelphia around 9:30 AM.  We drove directly to the hotel and parked the car, but check-in was not available until 3 PM.  We walked from the hotel to the historic district and started our day.  We didn’t return to the hotel until close to 5 PM, when we checked in and relaxed in our room for a bit.

When you enter the hotel there is a fireplace and seating area, with the check-in desk to your left.  There is a decent size dining room with tables and chairs, as well as a separate Express Start Breakfast room with taller tables and stools.  (On a side note:  Sunday night it ended up raining and then snowing.  When we got back from dinner, a family was sitting in the dining area with some takeout Chinese food that they had ordered. I thought this was a great idea and great use of the dining room, instead of trying to eat in a hotel room!) The hotel also has a fitness room, which we didn’t visit.  The kids were disappointed that the hotel had no pool, but we were so busy, that they wouldn’t have had time to swim.  Plus, they were unaware that we were visiting Sahara Sam’s Oasis on the way home.

Two Queen Bed Room

We reserved a two queen bed room, which we found to be spacious enough.  We were only staying for two nights, and in general we don’t need a lot of room (just more space for the kids to leave/lose their things!)  I especially enjoyed sitting in the corner arm chair and ottoman to read and the kids liked laying on the bed to watch television.

Toiletries

While I normally bring my own shampoo and conditioner, since this trip was so short I didn’t bother.  My daughter was super excited that the hotel had Bath & Body Works toiletries, since she’s a big fan of the store.

Express Start Breakfast

The Express Start Breakfast is served daily from 6 -10 AM.  This was one of the best staffed hotel breakfast bars that we have experienced.  The breakfast selection included hot items like sausage, bacon, eggs, western omelets, biscuits and gravy, and a pancake machine, cereal, bagels, toast, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs and the kids’ favorite, cinnamon rolls.  There was also a juice machine and a coffee, tea and hot chocolate bar.  While eating, we saw a mix of people staying at the hotel including families, older couples and several school groups.

Free Shuttle

We used the free shuttle only once when headed to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  Our driver was super friendly and took us all the way out to the museum, even though they normally don’t drive out that far during morning and evening rush hour.  The driver was a great resource on food recommendations – ordering your cheese steak with cheez whiz is a tourist thing to do and a must-try at Reading Terminal Market is the pork sandwich with broccoli rabe and provolone (we had already eaten this before his recommendation!).  and the location of points of interest – where we could find the famous “Love” sign, though we didn’t get a chance to see it.

Holiday Inn Express Penn's Landing Night Picture

Overall, we were very happy with our stay at the Holiday Inn Express Penn’s Landing.

*This post was not sponsored by Holiday Inn Express.  We just had a great experience and wanted to share it!

Weekly Meal Plan {Week 36}

2016 Calendar

It’s Monday, which means another meal plan, here on the blog.  As you may have noticed,  I took a blogging break last week.  I’m hoping to be back to regularly posting this week!  Last weekend we had my daughter’s family birthday party.  We made a ham and had plenty of leftovers.  Knowing that we would probably end up with a lot of leftover ham, I planned the weekly menu using recipes that would help use it up.  This was especially necessary, since my son hates eating leftovers.  Yes, he’s 7 1/2 and has already become a food snob! So here’s what was cooking last week:

Doraditas Elvia

Saturday – We went out to dinner at a local Mexican restaurant.  I was too hungry to remember to take pics of our dishes (#thestruggleisreal/#firstworldproblems!)  but managed to get this dessert pic in before the kids really dug in!  My daughter picked out this dessert of fried dough with springled sugar, honey, whipped cream and vanilla ice cream.

Sunday – We had ham, twice baked potatoes and roasted broccoli for my daughter’s 10th birthday celebration with the family followed by an ice cream cake.

Chicken Cordon Bleu Pasta

Monday – I made Chicken Cordon Bleu Pasta from Taste of Home.  I’ve made a similar type of dish before but not this specific one from Taste of Home.  This dish was tasty but definitely not “light” with the chicken, ham AND bacon.  While tasty, I won’t be making dishes like this again anytime soon – for healthy eating reasons.

Cheesy Leftover Ham and Rice Casserole

Tuesday – I made Cheesy Leftover Ham and Rice Casserole from I Wash You Dry. I used a defrosted box of frozen broccoli in lieu of fresh.  I thought that the two cans of cheese soup the recipe called for would have a weird or salty taste, but was surprised at how it worked in this dish.  The only soup I could find at Shoprite was Campbell’s.  This is an easy dish, but it’s not quick.  The casserole has to cook for over an hour.  This was a filling and tasty meal that we all enjoyed.

Corned Beef Reubens

Wednesday – I made corned beef Reubens which I served with tater tots.  I cooked a corned beef in the slow cooker and then put slices of it on seedless rye bread. I then added Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing.  The kids love Reubens so these sandwiches were a hit.

Ham and Leek Hand Pies

Thursday – I made Ham & Leek Hand Pies from Everyday with Rachael Ray.  We had a busy afternoon so I ended up making these earlier in the day and then reheating them in the toaster when we were ready to eat.  We ate these with a Caesar salad.  These were a little bit of work to make but very tasty.  I did omit the rosemary that the recipe called for since the kids and I really dislike the taste of it.

Friday – We went to my husband’s aunt’s house for a Seder to celebrate the first night of Passover.

What do you have planned on your menu for the week?

Friday Favorites – the 10th birthday edition

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!  What a fun week it has been!  Yesterday, my “baby” girl turned 10. I cannot believe how quickly time has flown by and am still trying to accept that I have a ten year old!  Yesterday was filled with lots of birthday festivities!

I had a busy week on the blog and posted everyday this week!  Monday I shared our weekly meal plan, Tuesday I shared my March reads and joined the Show Us Your Books linkup, Wednesday I joined the Kids Behind the Blog linkup and Thursday I shared some more Philly Food Finds from our recent trip.  Now, on to the favorites!

The Melting Pot

1. Birthday dinner  at the Melting Pot – This restaurant has become my kids’ favorite since we went for my birthday several years ago.  It feels like we were just here celebrating her 9th birthday, but last night we were back celebrating her 10th birthday!  Fondue fun!

Brother Jimmy's Beef Brisket Sandwich

2. Dinner with a friend – I went out to dinner Wednesday night with a friend I haven’t seen in YEARS.  She was my teaching assistant her first year at my school and has referred to me as her “mentor.”  She has been teaching her own class in the city for three years now.  It was soooo good to catch up with her!  Our BBQ dinner at Brother Jimmy’s was pretty tasty too.

Gilmore girls title screen.jpg

3. Gilmore Girls – Somehow, I never got into watching the Gilmore Girls when it was on television.  I have just started season 2 and will hopefully make my way through all the episodes before the Netflix revival airs!

25663663

4. The Charm Bracelet by Viola Shipman – I am almost finished reading this book and have been really enjoying it. I really love the meanings of the charms on the bracelets and the stories behind them.    It’s a really good mother/daughter generational story.

Walmart Spring Beauty Box

US Weekly

5.  Fun Mail – This week my first issue of US Weekly subscription and my Walmart Spring Beauty Box came.  It’s so nice to find something other than bills in the mailbox!  Oh how I’ve missed my celebrity gossip.

Have a great weekend!  Linking up with Tif, Amanda and Andrea!

More Philadelphia Foodie Finds

Philly foodie finds

This is the third post about our recent family trip to Philadelphia.  In the first post I wrote about our food finds at Reading Terminal Market.  In the second post I wrote about our 2-day itinerary of Philly with the kids.  Today, I sharing some of our additional foodie finds while on our visit.  Philadelphia is a great city for foodies and we barely sampled all of its great eats.  Which of course gives us reason to go back to visit!

Franklin Fountain Stock Market Crunch

Franklin Fountain:  The Stock Market Crunch – Located at 116 Market Street, the Franklin Fountain has been featured on television shows like Man vs. Food and Best Thing I Ever Ate.  Although it was established in 2004, this ice cream parlor has the look and feel of times past, with the “soda jerks” dressed in “old-timey” garb.  The four of us shared “The Stock Market Crunch” sundae, which consists of rocky road ice cream, peanut butter sauce, salted pretzels, whipped cream and a Bordeaux cherry.  For $11, it was definitely worth it!  Please note, this is a cash only operation.  Although we were there on a pretty cold and rainy day, the place was still crowded!

Cuba Libre Tostones

Cuba Libre Grilled Baby Octopus

Cuba Libre – This restaurant, located on 10 S. Second Street, was walking distance from our hotel.  After a long day of walking through the historic district, we were looking for something close by but different.  We don’t get to eat Cuban food often.  We didn’t realize until sitting down that this restaurant is a chain.  We ended up ordering a couple of appetizers including Cuba Libre Chicharrones and Empanadas and some tapas including Grilled Baby Octopus, Coconut Crab Fritters and Bruschettas de Tostones.

Logan Square Pizza & Grill Margherita Pizza

Logan Square Pizza & Grill  – Instead of eating at the cafeteria-style Franklin Foodworks eatery at the Franklin Institute, we opted to walk to Logan Square Pizza.  This pizza place is located at 161 North 21st Street, just a short walk from the Franklin Institute.  They offer a variety of different specialty pizzas, sandwiches and other eats, including gyros and tacos.  Unfortunately, unlike most New York pizzerias, we couldn’t order specialty pizzas by the slice.  So, we ended up splitting a 16″ Margherita pizza.  While tasty enough, this was no New York pizza, in either taste, or size!  However, it was reasonably priced and in our opinion, much better than eating “cafeteria-style” museum food.

Nine Ting Korean BBQ

Nine Ting – I saw pictures of the Korean BBQ at Nine Ting on Instagram (#phillyeats) and had to go!  All you can eat Korean BBQ for under $30 a person.  That is just unheard of in New York for that price!  We had short ribs, chicken curry, corn, two types of steak, pork belly and pineapple, although there were lots of other bbq choices available.  We were just too stuffed to try them!  They have a make your own sauce bar and gave a small selection of banchan (small dishes).  Surprisingly, they didn’t give us kimchi!  If we ever visit again, we will have to try the hot pot!

T-Swirl Crepe Chocolate Nut Party

T-Swirl Crepe:  Chocolate Nut Party – While we were walking to Nine Ting, we passed T-Swirl Crepe and both of the kids mentioned that they might want a crepe for dessert.  After stuffing ourselves with Korean BBQ, we stopped in to check out the crepes.  The crepes are made with gluten free rice flour and are made to order.  The kids chose Chocolate Nut Party, which is almond, crushed pistachio, chocolate gelato, chocolate truffles, chocolate sauce, whipped yogurt, chocolate custard cream, chocolate pearls and Pocky sticks.  There were so many tasty looking crepes (I’m looking at you Blueberry NY Cheeesecake!) and they serve both sweet and savory crepes.  The Chocolate Nut Party crepe was super delicious.  The crepe was about $7.   There are several T-Swirl Crepe locations in New York City, but we were super excited to learn that they will be opening up a T-Swirl Crepe right near my husband’s office in White Plains.

Vivi bubble tea - Peach Ice Jelly

Vivi bubble tea – For those of you who aren’t familiar with bubble tea, it’s a Taiwanese tea-based drink, usually mixed with fruit or milk, in which tapioca balls or fruit jellies are added.  I am not a fan of bubble tea…(it’s a texture thing) but wandering through Chinatown, my son really wanted one.  He chose the peach ice jelly, which he shared with his sister.  We ordered the regular (smaller size) which cost about $4.  This is a franchise, with locations throughout the United States, including many in New York City.  The Philadelphia franchise is located at 145 N. 10th Street in Chinatown.

Sonny's Famous Steaks

Sonny’s Famous Steaks – Located at 228 Market Street, we stopped here on our last night since we hadn’t had a cheesesteak yet, and I wasn’t leaving Philly without having at least one!  We ordered a Cheesesteak with provolone and grilled onions.  Hand-sliced rib eye on a sub roll, topped with melted provolone and sweet, grilled onions…..deliciousness all for just $9!  The four of us split one and enjoyed it.  We were full from our dinner earlier, but all had room for this sandwich.

The Kids Behind the Blog – April 2016

I am happy to be joining Stephanie from Wife Mommy Me and the other ladies hosting The Kids Behind the Blog linkup again this month.  It’s always fun hearing my kids’ responses to the questions and they like being part of the blog!  To give you some insight to their responses, my daughter turns 10 tomorrow(!) and my son is 7 1/2.  As you can tell from the responses, my daughter has a difficult time naming just one answer and my son is a little video game obsessed!

March 2016 Reads

Life According to Steph

Yes, it’s time once again for Steph and Jana’s Show Us Your Books linkup.  March was a pretty decent reading month for me with a total of eight books read.  I have ordered them from least to most liked and surprisingly, most of my books this month were 4 star reads.  A very good reading month indeed!  Looking forward to stopping by lots of other blogs today and adding to my to read list!

2 Stars

25817773

Pretty Happy: Healthy Ways to Love Your Body by Kate Hudson – I have always liked Kate Hudson.  I’ve seen an increasing trend of celebrities writing books and unfortunately, like this book, they are not always very good.  I didn’t really get much out of this book, which touches on cleanses and the four pillars of health.  I borrowed this book from the library, but if you own it, it is very interactive with questionnaires and other writing activities.  I also didn’t like all of the pictures of Kate in the book.  They seemed a little unnecessary and didn’t seem to serve a purpose.

25352450

The Winter Girl by Matt Marinovich – Elise and Scott are taking care of her dying father, Victor at his house in the Hamptons.  After seeing the neighbor’s bedroom light come on at the same time every night Scott becomes obsessed and ends up breaking into the house.  He eventually convinces Elise to come with him and things get crazy from there.  Strange? Absurd?  Twisted?  These are some of the words that come to mind after reading this book.  This was so not my type of book and am not sure why I finished it.

3 Stars

26047166

My Fringe Hours by Jessica N. Turner – I first learned about Turner from a podcast in which she was a guest on.  Even though I haven’t read it, I recommend reading The Fringe Hours, versus this book, My Fringe Hours.  This book was more of a journal.  It’s a great resource for those who are trying to find more “me” time in their lives, which amazingly, isn’t me at this moment in my life.

4 Stars

25430584

The Guest Room by Chris Bohjalian – The only other book by Bohjalian that I read was the Midwives, which I didn’t really like.  This book was surprisingly enjoyable.  Richard Chapman offers his Bronxville home to host his younger brother’s bachelor party.  Spencer, the organizer of the “entertainment” unknowingly hires two Armenian sex slaves.  The night ends with the shooting of the girls’ guards which ends up being a nightmare for all involved and greatly impacting Richard’s marriage.  The book is told through three different points of view – Richard, his wife Kristen, and one of the Armenian girls, Alexander.  The book takes place in New York City and Westchester County, so I was familiar with the setting, living in Westchester County.

25747128

No Ordinary Life by Suzanne Redfearn – Struggling with money problems, Faye Martin’s 4 year-old daughter Molly is “discovered” on a YouTube video at just the right time.  For Faye, who is jobless and abandoned by her husband, this feels like a dream come true.  But Faye has two other children who are greatly impacted by the move and changes their sister’s fame brings.  This was an enjoyable read and I enjoyed the glimpse into the world of child acting and the work that goes into producing a television show.

22877450

Party Girls by Rachel Hollis – I read this book for Cait’s monthly book club read.  You can read my full review here.

25663807

The Things We Keep by Sally Hepworth – Anna Forster is 38 when she’s diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s.  She’s put in an assisted living facility where there’s another young person, Luke, with a form of dementia.  Eve Bennett ends up getting a job at the facility as the cook when she’s left in a desperate employment situation and needs to support her daughter.  The book is told through Anna and Eve’s alternating points of view and takes place in both the present and flashbacks as we see the events leading up to their current situations and what happens after.

25690958

Year of Yes  by Shonda Rhimes – I have been a huge fan of all Rhimes’ shows so I was excited to read this book.  And it did not disappoint.  This non-fiction book details her year of yes, which ended up being life-changing for her.  This book was written like she’s having a conversation with just you, the reader, telling it like it is.

Weekly Meal Plan {Week 35}

2016 Calendar

Is it Monday again?!!  The weekend goes by so quickly!  Here’s a look at what was on our menu last week.

Beef Wellington

Roast Chicken

Saturday – We hosted our monthly supper club.  This month’s theme was Chef Gordon Ramsay.  I made a Roasted Chicken with Chickpea Stuffing and my husband made Ramsay’s famous Beef Wellington.  It was an amazing meal!

Chop't Salad

Sunday – My husband and daughter were at her Girl Scout Father/Daughter Dance.  So, my son and I went and saw Zootopia and then got salads from Chop’t.  I was able to have my favorite Kebab Cobb with falafel.  Yum!

Risotto with Italian Sausage

Monday – I made Risotto with Italian Sausage, Caramelized Onions and Bitter Greens from Cooking Light, March 2008.  I didn’t realize until I went to make this that I was out of grated parmesan cheese, so I used shredded mozzarella instead.  This was tasty and most of us enjoyed this (my son not so much).

One Pot Spicy Thai Noodles

Tuesday – I made an adapted version of One Pot Spicy Thai Noodles from Domestic Superhero.  My kids love anything with Asian flavors and this was a hit.  They both had seconds.  I didn’t make my version spicy and changed the sauce up a bit.  I used ground chicken for the protein in this dish which worked.

Pork Tacos

Wednesday – I made Slow Cooker Carnitas from allrecipes.com.  Tacos are always a hit in our house and these were tasty.  The meat was flavorful and tender.   I served the tacos with yellow rice.

Reuben Waffle Fries

Reuben Waffle Fries Close Up

Thursday – I made Reuben Waffle Fries from Melanie Makes.  Everyone in our family loves reubens, so these were a hit!  I didn’t have the Robert Rothschild Farm Toasted Garlic Horseradish Dip and made homemade Thousand Island dressing instead.  My husband asked why we don’t have this all the time and was impressed with my homemade Thousand Island dressing!

Friday – We had our usual homemade pizza, just cheese again this week.

Friday Favorites – Where is Spring?

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!  We are a week into April and I have to ask, where is spring?!!  The week started out with snow and is going to possibly end with snow, with possible snow showers tomorrow.  I am so over the cold!   My daughter’s girl scout camping trip this weekend ended up getting postponed due to the unusually cold temps.   Despite the cold temps, we had a great week.  Here are some of our favorites of the week:

Beef Wellington

Roast Chicken

1. Last Saturday, we hosted our monthly Supper Club.  This month’s theme was food by Chef Gordon Ramsay.  I made a Roasted Chicken with Chickpea Stuffing and my husband made Ramsay’s signature Beef Wellington.  This was our first time eating and making Beef Wellington.  This dish is tricky to make because the beef is wrapped in puff pastry.  You have to be careful of cooking time, since you can’t stick a meat thermometer into the dish or you ruin the look of it.  Well, as seen in the picture above, he nailed it!   It came out perfectly and was delicious.

2. Sunday evening my husband and daughter went to the Girl Scout Father/Daughter Dance.  This is the fifth year that they have gone and it still doesn’t lose its specialness.  The two of them dressed up, having dinner and dancing with all the other father/daughters in our girl scout community = priceless!  She ended up winning the door prize – a $25 movie gift card and a $25 Applebee’s gift card which made it even more fun for her!

Harry Potter Audiobook

3. My son and I have started reading the Harry Potter series together.  Because the chapters are long and the print small, we only get to read a couple of pages a night.  I borrowed the audio book from the library and we listen while he follows along in the book when we are driving in the car.  This has sped up the reading of the book for us.  Once finished we will watch the movie (again!) and continue through the series.  My daughter, who has read most of the series already enjoys listening to the audiobook as well.  Jim Dale does an amazing job of narrating the Harry Potter series and I highly recommend listening to the books on audio if you haven’t!

Kids Snack Pack Bowtime Cinemas

4. While my husband and daughter were at the Father/Daughter dance, my son and I went on a movie and dinner “date.”  He has been wanting to see the movie Zootopia since it came out, but we’ve been so busy.  I ended up taking him Sunday afternoon and then we went out to dinner.  I love being able to spend one-on-one time with the kids.

5. And finally, Monday, the 4th, my husband and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary!  I was going to meet him down at his office for a lunch date, but the kids had a two hour delay.  We are planning a nice dinner out, hopefully sooner than later!  I can’t believe how quickly twelve years has gone by.

ICYMI, this week on the blog:
Monday I shared our weekly meal plan.
Tuesday I shared our 2-Day Philadelphia Itinerary with kids.
Wednesday I joined the Currently linkup.

Have a great weekend!  Linking up with Tif, Amanda and Andrea!

Currently April 2016

Currently

April….the sun is shining, the birds are chirping…..oh, I’m sorry, that’s what I wish was happening right now.  Instead, Mother Nature has decided to play a cruel joke on us with thirty degree temps and snow……in April.   <Insert sigh of exasperation here!>  Today I am joining Anne and Jenna’s monthly Currently linkup to share what I am currently:

Beach

making:  a summer list of fun for the kids and I.  They both decided that they don’t want to go to camp this year.  Since I’m home, it’s not a necessity, like it has been in the past.  But, I may go crazy with the two of them home all day.  So I have already started creating a list of outings and things to do with them so we all survive unscathed!  I see a lot of beach days in our future.

wishlisting:  Oh man, since we recently joined Amazon Prime, I haven’t really been “wishlisting” very much.  It’s just so easy to purchase whatever I need and have it delivered in two days!  Some big purchase items that we are saving for  include a new kitchen table/chairs and some spring landscaping.

cleaning: besides my regular weekly cleaning schedule, not anything major yet.  I need to clean out the kids drawers and closets to see what they need as far as spring and summer clothing goes.  The house is also in need of a deep spring cleaning.  Since the temperature doesn’t feel very spring-like, I’m holding off until I can have my windows open and hear those birds chirping!

Philadelphia

posting: about our Philadelphia trip that we took over spring break.  Last week I posted about Reading Terminal Market and yesterday I posted our 2 day itinerary.   I have two more posts related to the trip coming up as well.

tasting: my not-so secret chocolate stash.  I bought a bag of mini Reese’s peanut butter cups on an after-Easter clearance sale.  The family knows about them but I’ve tucked them into a cabinet so when I get an occasional chocolate craving I know they’re there.  I know where they are but for everyone else, out of sight, out of mind!

What are you currently up to?
